Tony Yates

Vice Chair, Places (Technical) Lead

Tony is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Building Surveyors, he retired from his position of Manager of the Environment Department’s Building Control section, where he was responsible for ensuring that new commercial developments complied with the requirements and recommendations of the UK’s Approved Document M ‘Access to and use of Buildings’, which was superseded by the equivalent Guernsey Technical Standard.
He is used to negotiating with designers and contractors alike, and always encouraged them to look beyond the minimum required standards when constructing or modifying buildings.

My vision would be to ensure that Guernsey has a fully inclusive and accessible built Environment, whilst I realise that this may be difficult to achieve and in some cases impossible, if we work together with developers, owners and designers many of the issues can be resolved and reasonable improvements made to even the impossible cases
